Review by hotel critic
My stay at Eco-Hotel Mayachik was truly enchanting. From the warm welcome by Milton to the tranquil surroundings, this eco-friendly retreat offered a rejuvenating escape into nature. The vegetarian and vegan restaurant, helmed by talented chefs Britney and Britta, showcased delicious, organic dishes sourced from the on-site garden. The aroma of healing herbs filled the air, adding to the serene atmosphere. The bungalow I stayed in, Quetzal, boasted stunning views of the Indian Nose and the comforts of home, including free Wi-Fi and a hot shower powered by solar energy. The shared bathroom, with compost toilets, was surprisingly clean and eco-conscious. I appreciated the attention to sustainable living and the efforts to minimize the hotel's environmental impact.Exploring the small village of San Juan La Laguna was a cultural delight, as I learned about local cooperatives and admired the vibrant street art. The deep connection to the community and emphasis on eco-friendly practices made my experience at Mayachik truly unique and unforgettable. I highly recommend this gem of a hotel to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of Guatemalan hospitality and a commitment to conscious living.
